Simon Bore the Cross by Margaret Bonds and Langston Hughes highlights Simon of Cyrene, incorporating the spiritual melody "He Never Said a Mumblin Word."  Christ lag in Todesbanden (Christ Lay in Death's Bonds), BWV 4, by Johann Sebastian Bach, reflects on the battle between life and death through a Lutheran hymn melody.  Experience the powerful convergence of African American spirituals and Lutheran hymns in this inspiring concert.
